Logan’s Landing’s thanks everyone who helped make our 19^th annual Downtown Christmas Open House a success! By exchanging donations of food and pet items, paper goods and cleaning supplies for tickets and depositing those tickets at participating merchants, many lucky shoppers won great prizes, while helping our community’s less fortunate and supporting local businesses. Additionally, there were 13 Prize Passport winners, who visited all 16 merchants and won a combined total of $850 in Logan’s Landing Bucks!

Thanks to the generosity of the community, we again collected more than half a ton of donated items!  These items have been distributed to the Emmaus Mission Center, Salvation Army, and the Cass County Humane Society. Special thanks to all of our volunteers, and especially to Michelle Dials for once again chairing the event.

Logan’s Landing presents the 19^th annual Downtown Christmas Open House,   Thursday December 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in downtown Logansport.  Join us for a fun evening of shopping and the chance to win great prizes – all while helping our community’s less fortunate.

Next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up some extra canned food and pet items, then bring them with you to the Downtown Christmas Open House.  Visit the Open House Headquarters in the Depot at Fourth & Melbourne, trade your canned goods for tickets, then visit the 16 participating merchants and deposit your tickets for your chance to win hundreds of dollars in prizes!

Pet items collected will be given to the Cass County Humane Society, and food items will be split between Emmaus Mission Center and the Salvation Army … so you are helping others while entering to win.  All three organizations also need donations of paper goods and cleaning supplies.

Logan’s Landing thanks everyone who helped make this year’s Downtown Spooktacular a great success!  We estimate over a thousand trick-or-treaters converged on downtown Logansport on October 25^th for this long-time annual tradition.  Thank you to the volunteers who helped make this event happen, and thank you to the 28 participating merchants!  Most of the trick-or-treaters stayed for the Elks Halloween Parade immediately after the Downtown Spooktacular – congratulations to Elks Lodge #66 for continuing this tradition year after year and generation after generation.

Adding to the Halloween atmosphere downtown were 39 scarecrows created by local businesses and organizations.  Again this year, we were amazed at the creativity and imagination displayed!  Congratulations once again to the Judge’s Choice Award winner: Mom’s Taxi, and to the People’s Choice Award winner: Logansport Fire Department.

Logan’s Landing announces the return of your favorite downtown Halloween traditions. On Thursday October 25th from 4-6, participating merchants in downtown Logansport will hand out treats to costumed trick-or-treaters during the Downtown Spooktacular, so bring the kids on down! Afterwards, kids can participate in the annual Elks Halloween Parade immediately following the trick-or-treating. And be sure to check out the entries in this year’s Scarecrow Row competition, located along Market Street and Broadway.

Downtown Spooktacular participating businesses will be announced by social media and local media. Look for the Spooktacular signs at participating locations.

Registration is underway for Logan’s Landing’s annual Scarecrow Row Competition, Downtown Spooktacular and Downtown Christmas Open House. Local businesses and organizations are invited to decorate scarecrows to be displayed from October 11 through November 1 along “Scarecrow Row” on Market Street and Broadway in downtown Logansport.  On Thursday October 25, participating downtown businesses will hand out treats to costumed trick-or-treaters during Downtown Spooktacular, immediately followed by the Elks Halloween Parade. The Downtown Christmas Open House is scheduled for Thursday, December 6. Registration packets are being distributed to past participants; if your business or organization is interested in participating in any of these events, please contact Logan’s Landing at (574) 722-9345 or lldirector@loganslanding.com.  Registration deadline is October 4.

You may recall that lifelong Logansport resident Aaron Anderson is bicycling 2500 miles from Logansport to Santa Barbara, California, following the legendary Route 66. This trip is raising money for Logan’s Landing, the Main Street organization devoted to revitalizing downtown Logansport. Aaron is calling this fundraiser “Miles for Main Street” and is asking supporters to make a pledge per mile, or make a donation of a predetermined amount.  Donations are tax-deductible.

More than 50 people turned out on August 3^rd for the send-off at the Depot – thanks!  Aaron is now approximately halfway through his journey, and is checking in every night via the Miles for Main Street facebook page.  He is still soliciting donations; credit card donations can be made at the Miles for Main Street facebook page, or at www.loganslanding.com.  Checks can be mailed to Logan’s Landing at PO Box 473, Logansport.

Don’t miss the thirteenth annual Taste of Cass County, brought to you by Logan’s Landing! The festival will take place on Saturday August 11 from 5 p.m. to midnight in downtown Logansport, and features great food and drink from a variety of local restaurants and eateries. Enjoy live music throughout the evening featuring local bands, as well as the fifth annual All-American Hot Dog Eating Contest, all on the Cass County Community Foundation Stage. Adult beverages will be provided by Amelio’s on the River and the People’s Winery. The Kids Korner (5-8 pm) will have a Minions theme and will offer games and prizes for youngsters, plus a bounce house.

Admission is $2 per person or $5 per family. Proceeds from the Taste benefit Logan’s Landing with programs to improve and preserve Logansport’s downtown district. Logan’s Landing’s annual Celebrate Logansport event on June 7th was enjoyed by all!  People of all ages gathered downtown to celebrate Logansport’s birthday, enjoy free birthday cake, free entertainment, and free kids activities, and eat delicious strawberry shortcake.

Special thanks to all who participated in this event. Extra-special thanks to event chair Greg Packard, raffle chair Gwyn Seabolt, and the Promotion Committee, chaired by Wyndi Thompson. Additionally, thank you to Peak Community Services for providing free face-painting; Little Children’s Ministry for having a lemonade stand; Cass County Arts Alliance and  Reading Railroad for providing activities for children; numerous local merchants and individuals for donating raffle prizes; Peggy at Warner’s Greenhouse for raffle supplies; Michelle Dials and Cass County Communication Network, Logansport Radio, and the Pharos-Tribune for helping us get the word out; the City of Logansport, especially Marla Evanich and the city employees who served shortcake; Logansport Parks Department and Cass-Pulaski Community Corrections for set-up and tear-down assistance; Mike Anderson Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-RAM for balloons and the use of a vehicle for deliveries; Pizza Hut for ice; and Logansport Savings Bank for bottled water.
