LOGAN’S LANDING SPONSORS

DOWNTOWN GREEN & CLEAN DAY

IN CONJUNCTION WITH LIVE UNITED DAY

Downtown Logansport will be green and clean, thanks to volunteers who want to live united!

Logan’s Landing is recruiting volunteers to help weed and trim, pick up litter, sweep, and generally spruce up our downtown district.  This clean-up traditionally takes place in April; however, Logan’s Landing has added this additional date as part of the United Way’s “Live United Day” on Friday September 17th.  This is the day before the Art on the Avenue event, so the focus will be on making the festival area look its best.

Volunteers will gather at Little Turtle Waterway at 7:45 a.m. on Friday September 17th; please bring your own yard work tools with you.  Register today by phone, 574-722-9345, or e-mail lldirector@loganslanding.com .  All volunteers are required to complete a United Way Volunteer Information Sheet no later than September 6th.

Let’s all live united and help make downtown Logansport Green and Clean!

5th Annual Taste of Cass County this Saturday!

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

REMINDER – the Taste of Cass County is THIS SATURDAY, August 14th, from 5 pm to 1:30 am at Little Turtle Waterway Plaza, downtown Logansport.  Admission is just $1 (kids under 6 are free) and then you purchase refreshment tickets for $1 each to be used at all vendors.  It’s an affordable, family-friendly event – don’t miss it!  You will be supporting Cass County restaurants and eateries, as well as supporting Logan’s Landing in our efforts to improve and preserve Logansport’s downtown district.

New this year:  Reading Railroad will be in and around the gazebo with free kids activities, and book giveaways while supplies last.  Little Turtle Waterway volunteers will be giving free golf cart tours of the LTW trails.  And one of our major sponsors, Security Federal, will have a free bounce house for the kids.

This year’s refreshment vendors include: Amelio’s, Applebee’s, B&K West, Bruno’s, Bubba’s Smoke Shack, Dessert First, 5th St BBQ, Happy Burger East,  Latte on a Leash, Memorial Hospital, The Old Mill General Store featuring Walnut Valley Bison, Old Style Inn (beer tent), Pepsi, and Sycamore. Lots of variety, and most of the food vendors will be offering sample sizes of their goodies, so you can try a little something from every booth!

Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and get comfortable on the grass and enjoy the variety of music, followed by fireworks over the Wabash River at 10 pm, sponsored by PHP/Physicians Health Plan.  The entertainment line-up on the Security Federal stage includes: After Eight at 6 pm; Trudy at 6:45; Rude Barb & the Beggars at 7:30; The Crop at 8:15; and the Mud Hippies at 9:15. Immediately after the fireworks, Twisted Riddler will perform in the Old Style Inn adult beverage tent.

Logan’s Landing Contributes to Roll of Honor Restoration

Friday July 23rd, a small group gathered in front of the Doughboy Monument at Logansport’s City Building for a symbolic check presentation.  Representatives of Logan’s Landing presented a check in the amount of $150 to the Cass County Veterans Council, to be used toward their restoration of the Roll of Honor.

Logan’s Landing Board President Dan Hosler stated, “Last month, Logan’s Landing held a charitable roadblock fundraiser in front of the city building, and we felt it was appropriate to share a portion of the funds raised with the Veterans Council for this worthy project.  We look forward to seeing the new Roll of Honor, which we feel will be a nice addition to the downtown district.”

Becki Harris, Executive Director of Logan’s Landing, suggested that this donation might encourage others to contribute as well.  “Maybe seeing this in the newspaper will remind other organizations and businesses about this project, and the ongoing need for funding.”

Stan Williams Departure

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Logan’s Landing will soon say goodbye to a long-time board member, Stan Williams. Stan has accepted a position as executive director for the Warren County Regional Planning Commission, which covers the county northeast of Cincinnati, Ohio. Stan’s expertise has been a tremendous help to Logan’s Landing over the years;… he also served as chairman of the Logan’s Landing Economic Restructuring committee.  Stan will be missed!
