A NIGHT TO BENEFIT THE "DOWNTOWN ARTS DISTRICT".
The "2011 Dancing with our Stars" is a fundraiser benefiting the Downtown Arts District that began months in advance of October 22nd.
We have 12 local celebrities who have agreed to be one of our "Stars" and we have paired them with a "Professional" who will assist the Star in the selection of music and the choreography.
Our dancers have begun soliciting votes and we will keep close tabs on the votes keeping everyone updated as the excitement and competition between stars continues to build!
Patrons will have the option of voting on line at our website or they can call in a vote.
On the night of the event each "Star and Professional Partner" will perform in front of the live audience while members of the audience can continue to purchase votes throughout the evening for their favorite dancer(s). The dancing couple with the most votes will win the coveted "Dancing with our Stars" trophy!
Join us for a fabulous night of dinner and dancing! So let the competition and fun begin!

DOWNTOWN ART & DESIGN DISTRICT

WE HAVE A DREAM.......a dream of an Arts & Design District in Downtown Logansport!
THANKS TO ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS OF THE
"2010 DANCING WITH OUR STARS"
Our Dream is becoming a reality!!
This summer you will begin to notice the changes in our Arts & Design District with the addition of new signage on light poles which will provide a visual concept of entering our Arts & Design District and define our district. Signs were designed by Timothy Boor with the assistance of Denise Geary, Huston Electric and developed/installed by ADT Sign & Design.
We have commissioned our first piece of "Public Art" from local artists which will be two dancers spanning 12 ft in height to be installed at the corner of Market and Broadway by the first of October.
Hopefully our first "Pocket Park" will also be completed by the end of the summer and it will be located beginning at the China Lane parking lot and continue to 4th Street.
Again we can't thank the community enough for all the support last year and I know you will all support our event again this year to make it bigger and better because we still have alot to do in our "Arts & Design District".
We still feel an Art District in downtown Logansport will be a significant element of the revitalization of our downtown. The art district will bring a new dimension to the urban core of downtown and will create a cultural area that will be a destination spot for the local community and for our tourism industry.
The art district will attract coffee shops, eateries, retail stores, galleries, dance studios, small businesses and other cultural amenities. It will encourage economic development and create investment opportunities.
The art district will provide the opportunity for local arts organizations - Logansport Art Association and Cass County Arts Alliance which includes Civic Players of Logansport, Junior Civic Theater and Performing Arts Council to create joint programming. This could include educational programs, both visual and performance for all ages.
The continued development of the art district will enhance and beautify Logansport and improve the quality of life downtown. The success of downtown will benefit all of Logansport and Cass County.
Our vision of the art district still includes:

Arches - Towering arches will provide the visual concept of entering the district. They will serve as gateways to welcome visitors. The arches will continue the railroad theme of Logansport's heritage. |

Public Art - approximately 12 pieces of public art are needed to be placed at various locations on Market Street, 4th Street, 5th Street, 6th Street and Broadway to have an initial impact. Public Art can include sculptures/statues, painted building murals, painted windows, artistic bicycle racks and the list goes on. We now have commissioned the "Dancers" as our first piece of public art, which is being constructed by Jim Galbreath and when completed will be installed at 4th and Broadway.

Pocket Parks - The goal is to turn visually unappealing parking locations into visually appealing locations. The parks can be accented with brick and/or wrought-iron walls, landscaping, murals, benches and other public art. First Pocket Park to be installed beginning at China Lane parking lot and extending to 4th Street. |
Again thank you to all of our supporters........your making our dreams come true!!!
