"A NIGHT TO BENEFIT THE "DOWNTOWN ARTS DISTRICT"
The "2014 Dancing with our Stars" is a fundraiser benefiting the Downtown Arts District that began months in advance of October 4th. We have 15 local celebrities who have agreed to be one of our "Stars" and we have paired them with a "Professional" who will assist the Star in the selection of music and the choreography. Our dancers have begun soliciting votes and we will keep close tabs on the votes keeping everyone updated as the excitement and competition between stars continues to build! Patrons will have the option of voting on line at our website or they can call in a vote. On the night of the event each "Star and Professional Partner" will perform in front of the live audience while members of the audience can continue to purchase votes throughout the evening for their favorite dancer(s). The dancing couple with the most votes will win the coveted "Dancing with our Stars" Grand Champion trophy! Join us for a fabulous night of dinner and dancing! So let the competition and fun begin! |

LoLa DOWNTOWN ART & DESIGN DISTRICT WE HAVE A DREAM......a dream of an Arts & Design District in Downtown Logansport! THANKS TO ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS OF " DANCING WITH OUR STARS" |
|||||||||
Our Dream is becoming a reality!! In 2011 we were able to add new Art & Design District signage on the light poles which provides a visual definition to our district. Signs were designed by artist, Timothy Boor with the assistance of Denise Geary, Huston Electric and developed/installed by Chuck Reid, ADT Sign & Design. Now in 2012 we have been able to accomplish even more in creating an Art & Design District in the City of Logansport. On June 29th, 2012 our first piece of commissioned public art titled "The Dancers" from local artisan, James Galbreath of two dancers spanning 13 ft 3 inches in height was unveiled. They are installed on Market Street between China Lane and 4th Street in our newly developed "Pocket Park". Planters were constructed by Merrill Louthain & Associates and the lighting of the statue was donated by Houston Electric. August 2012 our second "Pocket Park" located on Broadway next to Fernbaugh's Jewelry Store was completed. Public art sculpture titled "Infinity" by Mac Worthington and three art displays donated by local artist Hugh Leeman. Planters were contructed by Merrill Louthain & Associates and the lighting was provided by Fissel Electric. Spring 2013 we added another sculpture piece "Solitary Dancers" by mac Worthington and Security Federal was kind enough to allow us to place it on an already existing concrete pad which is located at the corner of 4th Street and Broadway. June 2013, ten (10) new park benches were added to various business locations in our downtown. April 2014, our third "Pocket Park" located on Broadway at the PNC Bank building and was donated by the owners of the Cass City Center, LLC. This pocket park is dedicated to the memory of Kathy Dingo. Public Art for this pocket park will follow in the near future. Again we can't thank the community enough for all the support in the previous years and I know you will all support our event again this year to make it bigger and better because we still have alot to do in our "Arts & Design District". We still feel an Art District in downtown Logansport will be a significant element of the revitalization of our downtown. The art district will bring a new dimension to the urban core of downtown and will create a cultural area that will be a destination spot for the local community and for our tourism industry. The art district will attract coffee shops, eateries, retail stores, galleries, dance studios, small businesses and other cultural amenities. It will encourage economic development and create investment opportunities. The art district will provide the opportunity for local arts organizations - Logansport Art Association and Cass County Arts Alliance which includes Civic Players of Logansport, Junior Civic Theater and Performing Arts Council to create joint programming. This could include educational programs, both visual and performance for all ages. The continued development of the art district will enhance and beautify Logansport and improve the quality of life downtown. The success of downtown will benefit all of Logansport and Cass County. |
